File Under: If you're going to vote yes on 1, what is it you truely fear.

As I've stated before, I fundamentally don't understand why anyone cares if two adults want to marry, regardless of their gender. It's none of my business, so why should be any of theirs? What are they truly afraid of? Here's a couple of articles about this mess in Maine, one draws an interesting parallel to race issues and the other is mostly informative.

As some who is an advocate for gay marriage let me tell you what frustrates me about our own side.

Yes voters are apply their own personal morality to the definition of marriage. Is that unique? absolutely not, everyone does it.

You say you don't understand why anyone would care if two adults marry, but what about the case of first or second cousins? How many people who support gay marriage changing would be appalled at the idea of changing the marriage laws to allow polygamy or incest?

So people are all for allowing consenting adults to marry, right up to the point where the consenting adults are engaging in an activity that runs counter to their own moral code.
