If you read the Lefsetz Letter or are a huge Bruce fan, you've probably already read this journal entry by Bruce Springsteen. It was neat to read about the Superbowl performance from his perspective.
'I'm on top of the piano (good old boots). I'm down. One…two…three, knee drop in front of the microphone and I'm bending back almost flat on the stage. I close my eyes for a moment and when I open them, I see nothing but blue night sky. No band, no crowd, no stadium. I hear and feel all of it in the form of a great siren like din surrounding me but with my back nearly flat against the stage I see nothing but beautiful night sky with a halo of a thousand stadium suns at its edges. I take several deep breaths and a calm comes over me. I feel myself deeply and happily "IN."'
'But I said look here brother Who you jiving with that cosmik debris? ' -Frank Zappa

File Under: Crap!
Well, looks like I don' have to worry about getting that tattoo. I still can't believe the refs didn't make the pass interference call. Oh well, such is the life of an Eagles fan.

File Under: WOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Going to the NFC Championship, BABY! WOOOOOOOOOOO! GO EAGLES!
I am so happy for Donovan and this bunch that were written off weeks ago. McNabb is the reason I am a football fan. He has thrived in the face of adversity and he is a stand up guy. What more can you ask for in a hero?
One step closer to my first tattoo. I said back in 2004, that if they won the Super Bowl, I would get an Eagles tattoo.
So giddy, right now. What a great early birthday present!

File Under: Eagles move one
So my beloved Eagles have beaten the Vikings on the road to the Superbowl. Unfortunately, there is a Big Blue World Champion sized road block in the way. Next Sunday either Ellyn and I, or my son, his uncle and Grampa are going to be crying (gotta love familial strife). I say, they got theirs last year, my turn. Go Eagles!
PS. To all you Philly fans who kept dumping on my man McNabb, you suck!

The Eagles have signed All-Pro Asante Samuel. Thank you Pats, for letting go of one of your best defensive players.

File Under: Erik's NY Giants win Super Bowl
As many of you know, despite his mother and I being Eagles fans, my son has chosen the NY Giants as his team. Suffice to say that he is very happy today, even though he has a fever and is stuck in bed. He is also lucky in that his team has won a Super Bowl in his lifetime. Eagles, I am still waiting.
I would like take this opportunity to brag and eat some crow. I have been defending Eli all along, saying it wasn't his fault. Who did I blame? I blamed Coughlin, it is now obvious that I was wrong. So to Tom Coughlin, I apologize. It seems it was all Shockey's fault.

File Under: So T.O. Will That Be Cash or Charge?
It seems that Terrell lost his arbitration and has to pay back the Eagles $769,120. I needed something to smile about this morning.

File Under: Sean Taylor
I am not a Redskins fan, in fact as a division rival I am obligated to hate them. I, nonetheless, feel for the team and the family of Sean Taylor today. Sean was no angel, I remember that game when he spit on another player, and some of his other youthful infractions. All those things do not equal shot in your own home. It always seems worse when a young man who has turned his life around is lost. It seems like such a waste of hard lessons learned.
His death is senseless and tragic, as well as a reminder of the horrors that befall many families in less affluent circumstance. Miami is a festering hole. I have a good friend who has thankfully left southern Florida, and he could tell you things to make you gasp. Why anyone would want to live there is beyond me.
I wish his family all the best and hope that his little girl will grow up to know all she meant to her father.

File Under: Not too shabby
When faced with what may be the best team in football history, the Eagles didn't just roll over and play dead to the 20 point spread. In fact, take back one over reaching, bad idea, Feeley throw and they may even have beaten the juggernaut Patriots. For me, I can live with not being embarrassed and only losing 31-28.

File Under: Eagles season over
Sure there are games to be played, but at 3 and 5, in a division with Dallas and New York, we are done. I am sure that many Philly fans will be quick to blame Donovan, they always do. He does play his part, but there are many misfires in this team this year. Their head coach is distracted. Their o-line isn't providing the protection it used to. There still isn't a game changing wide out. The defense isn't stopping people the way it used to, and their special teams still aren't.
Last nights game highlighted all of these problems, especially on defense. They just couldn't stop the Cowboys, at all.
So now I must look to 2008, and hope that the team doesn't do anything stupid like trade Donovan.
